Wow - such an intense time. Trying to gauge what to say - how far to 'instruct' and how far to remain apart. Great to have had the Deborah's cd...Thank you, again!
All four friends enjoyed themselves: The artist in the group was able to get beyond the monoprint technique and created a family portrait. Having just had a new addition the day prior, she was all about inclusiveness. One had wanted to explore different modalities of art - she really seemed to enjoy herself with the colours.
Oh, and talk about enjoying one's self - another had more fun with yellow than I could ever have thought.
The self-proclaimed un-creative got to the point of crinkling up her paper. I thought she was destroying her work! But NO! In order to move beyond where she was she wadded up the paper first and THEN did her touching. Totally different... She came away happy with herself. She stayed the longest and connected with her work well afterwards..
Next time I will limit the group to three at a go as my space was not quite large enough for a total of five (including myself ). However, if I can find another venue apart from my home, I'll work up to larger groups. I needed to have spent more time having them center themselves first and more question and answer time while I was doing the demonstration. Guess expertise in that will come with time - as with all things.
I've down-loaded (uploaded?) some pictures of the day, as well as a couple of my own drawings.
We'll see how this all progresses.....
Forgot to mention we mounted their favourite drawingonto canvas board. It was rewarding for me (and I hope to them) that they each had a drawing they were willing to share in such a meaningful way - put it on board and say, "this is important to me." I will need to remember to talk about more about how one can use the drawings as a meditation.....
