Touch Drawing Community

Had a wonderful event at my home last Saturday. With help, we turned it into a gallery. Artwork was hung and displayed everywhere possible. Quite a few people came, some items sold, and many enlightening comments were made. It was great to get reactions and feedback from so many different people. I am encouraged by this and encouraged by my new commitment to share my work in a new show every month. People who care come forward with many new ideas for exhibiting and selling my art. They also ask many questions about how the work is done. There is a lot of interest in TD, and of course I encourage them to try it out. Thanks for listening to my share; I hope it inspires you to share your work too if you are not doing so already.

In Sacramento, we have 2nd Saturday distinguished as art reception day/night. One can list their show in the newspapers, and online as I did. Occasionally, folks turn their home into a gallery. With help, I displayed framed pics in the hallway, available walls, and on tables throughout whatever part of the house I wanted to use. signs were posted with prices for each size, framed or unframed, or for the greeting cards with my art on them. I also have jewelry that I displayed in my massage room and had a friend who tended to that and any sales. Refreshments were kept simple with simple snacks and a few cold drinks and ice (this is Sacramento=hot). Online I listed the event on TD.com, with my email contacts, and on Facebook. My friends then forwarded the messages throughout their files of friends on Facebook. Next month I will be showing at another home show that opens its door only once a year. Meanwhile I have contacted a new gallery owner about showing my work. In my email message I directed him to "my page" on this website so that he could see a little of my work and learn about the process. Deborah, does one have to sign in and create a profile to see events and personal pages on this website? A couple of people said they could not access the info about my listed event without doing this. I'd like to pass on to them whatever the truth is.
The art show provided a place for me that was absolutely exhilarating... people giving so much attention to my work and to me.... it was wonderful to be appreciated, validated and encouraged!!!

Hi, Rowan
My originals are done on different kinds of paper, although I am quite partial to the tissue paper. Sometimes I float mount the tissue paper and place under glass. However, most of my art is displayed as prints - some I mat and frame, others I just back with cardboard and put in a cellophane type sleeve. How do you back your tissue drawings onto canvas board? That must look great.?

Hi Cynthia,

I ws wondering what paper you use - I currently still use the tissue paper, but back it onto canvas board. I've been wondering about how to have an event - in the home sounds perfect.
