Kate Ziff Storing drawings on tissue paper

After stashing rolls of drawings on tissue paper in a trunk for seven years I wanted to have easier access to some of them. I bought a pad of newsprint (18 x 24"), you can get it in 50 or 100 page pads, and interleaved dry Touch Drawings throughout the pad; also tried it with a pad of 80# Strathmore drawing paper on hand. This way I can save a single or a series of drawings for study, reference, color or prep for photographing. A few days in the pad flattens out the tissue pretty well.… Continue

Jill Lopes Taking a Wrong Turn

It seemed like today was going to get off to a good start. Then I learned my ex-partner was back in town. I am really resentful since I brought him to Maine and helped him get established. Everything was a lie. Now he is back with someone else who is believing his lies. It seems lately everything is wrong (like the REM song). Work is getting crazy. The best people are leaving. We have had nine so far since the beginning of summer. Why doesn't administration get the hint staff are not satisfied w… Continue

Jill Lopes Reflection #1

I started the day of a bit giddy and very light and happy. By the end of the day, I was feeling a sadness from deep within. There has been so much that has happened this year, mostly not in a good way. Last night was a good night though. I began to prepare a visual journal and collage materials for a few projects. It has been a long time since I have felt the creative spirit. I have always loved Soul Cards, and I feel these will help my Muse wake from her fitful slumber. Continue

Cynthia Wynn Skyblossom Art Show

Had a wonderful event at my home last Saturday. With help, we turned it into a gallery. Artwork was hung and displayed everywhere possible. Quite a few people came, some items sold, and many enlightening comments were made. It was great to get reactions and feedback from so many different people. I am encouraged by this and encouraged by my new commitment to share my work in a new show every month. People who care come forward with many new ideas for exhibiting and selling my art. They also ask… Continue

Angela Raincatcher Old-growth Forest

The only photos I really took of my trip to the Touch Drawing Gathering 2009 were in the old growth forest on our silent day. I've uploaded them to Flickr: http://www.flickr.com/photos/ninthraven/sets/72157621807935421/ Also, some of the furniture in the Farmhouse was cool, so I took pics for a friend who makes furniture. Deborah on Touch Drawing The 'Sweat Lodge' Gathering

Yesterday the region had ALL TIME record breaking heat - 103 degrees in Seattle. I don't know what it hit here, but we are cooking. Thank goodness for the deep coolness of the Sanctuary. It was silent day and we spread out all over the land. About 11 people came with me to the old growth forest and beach. When we met in the sanctuary at 4, we sat together in the deep silence. It felt like we should just stay in the stillness so we extended silence until dinner. this group is able to hold the dep… Continue

Deborah on Touch Drawing Wednesday Morning Silent Day

The sharing of inner portraits went through the late afternoon and into the evening. Each experience drew out a deep life story. We are in awe. We moved into silent time in the mid evening. I will take about 12 people to the old growth forest for their silent time today. There is an ancient cedar that serves as an altar - this and many others saved from the loggers by our community standing in protection in 1981. I love the deep silent day at the Gathering. I can rest into it as I lie in the fie… Continue

Deborah on Touch Drawing Tuesday Lunch

Day one of the Gathering has come to feel like week one. We are inside now! We are sculpting our sessions around the intense heat; drawing morning and evening; afternoons in the sanctuary, which is deeply cool and held. An opening in the sanctuary session brought a hole in my precious blue crystal singing bowl. Many layers of learning here and stepping through the opening in the bowl to embody its music in my own voice. This morning we moved into the Inner Portrait process. We will witness them… Continue

Deborah on Touch Drawing First Night of the Gathering

A day of carrying and loading and unloading and moving tables and setting spaces...and by 6pm all was in order and our Gathering studio resonated in readiness. We walked through the forest to the silence of the Sanctuary; The to the labyrinth which we circled around, breathing with the trees. One more circle of candles in the Hall and very simple first sharing from each one of us. Then an open fluid simple formless first drawing session. We usually begin drawing on Monday morning, but this gentl… Continue

Deborah on Touch Drawing The beginning

Since my personal blog has become a place to post my own Touch Drawing, I have decided to have a second 'identity' in the community as 'Deborah on Touch Drawing'. This seems like an important developmental step on a personal level - making space for my own artist self separate from the part of me that represents Touch Drawing to others. Now I need to make actual TIME as well. But this is a step in clarifying the difference, which will help me clarify my use of time as well! The 13th Annual Touc… Continue

Jonina Kirton ~ my july reading ~ also posted on my website at www.joninakirton.com ~

I was delighted when I pulled this card. To me it says joy ~ joy ~ joy! The green background speaks of new life, springtime, the return of leaves and the opening blossoms. The blue on the card represents the life giving nature of water; the force behind all life. I also… Continue

Rowan Mayhew The day after

Wow - such an intense time. Trying to gauge what to say - how far to 'instruct' and how far to remain apart. Great to have had the Deborah's cd...Thank you, again! All four friends enjoyed themselves: The artist in the group was able to get beyond the monoprint technique and created a family portrait. Having just had a new addition the day prior, she was all about inclusiveness. One had wanted to explore different modalities of art - she really seemed to enjoy herself with the colours. Oh, and… Continue

Rowan Mayhew the first day

Well, maybe not the first day - that would have been last month when I took the workshop at East West Bookshop. But this is my first with sharing. I have four friends coming, none of whom know each other. All of whom I feel to be creatives and intuitives. I'm hoping to spark some little bit of the joy and excitement Deborah sparked in me. I've the tables set, the papers laid out with rollers and paints. I've Deborah's workshop cd set to play after I give a brief demonstration. I'm hoping to tak… Continue
