Touch Drawing Personal Use, Facilitating Touch Drawing
What brings you to an interest in Touch Drawing or SoulCards?
I have been doing Touch drawing for about 10 years, as a participant and a facilitator, in educational and therapeutic settings. i teach Touch Drawing as one of the core courses in the Art and Healing Certificate Program at Ringling College of Art and Design in Sarasota, FL. My co-teacher, Victoria Domenichello-Anderson and myself believe that Touch Drawing is potentially such a powerful creative and personal experience that all the students in this Expressive Arts program can benefit greatly by taking the class. I have been teaching small weekly Touch Drawing workshops in my studio for about a year and a half as well. As a visual artist, I mount many of my Touch Drawings on canvas and further develop them, usually with acrylics.I have attended one TD gathering.
I am a Registered Expressive Arts Consultant Educator and am devoted to bringing the power of the Expressive Arts (including Touch Drawing) to a wide variety of people in a a myriad of settings. I have a business, Expressive Arts Florida, with my wonderful colleagues: Victoria Domenichello-Anderson, Tamara Teeter Knapp and Elizabeth Bornstein. We are doing team building, expressive arts therapy, retreats, classes and workshops for adults and children.

At the Touch drawing gathering, I had a very powerful and unexpected experience with drawing my response to the death of my mother.
This was profoundly healing. Please see Nancy Watson's page, as she created a moving video of my drawings and writing. This video "Touch drawing: Journey Through Grief" is also available on the "videos" page.

Hi Kathleen - I read in one of your posts that you come to Vancouver BC in the summer? Is that still so? I am very interested in your applications for TD. I'm not sure I can do the heat of FL this time of year - very northern ancestry, you know. :-) I cannot make the july workshop on whidbey and am desperate to have more in-depth with a practitioner so that I can share with others. Especially a parkinsonian in Norwich, england. As I'm not a therapist, I want to be sure not to cross any boundaries, but to bring this as an opportunity for a past artist who no longer can hold a brush.
Thanks Kathleen, I am also in three circles here in our area. We are just outside of Jacksonville. Visual Journaling, a group for just sharing and exchanging journals. it is brand new and we having a blast. I also participate in a wellness circle for women. I do workshops in art and looking forward in participating in this forum. Do you know about www.milliande.com, a visual journaling group. Look it up if you have the time. Carol
Thanks, Kathleen. I look forward to participating in this forum. I am also excited to be going to the IEATA conference in August. I've signed up for the pre-conference and the main conference. It would be nice to schedule a gathering with all Art and Healing students attending. It would be even better to make some group art.

Hi Kathleen!
Sorry it's been so quiet from my end! I hope you had a great summer in BC. It looks like the Sarasota EA community just keeps on expanding! That is wonderful! I've been facilitating the group at work on a regular basis for the students and it is going well. We've also started incorporating some EA activities into the Family workshops/retreats that we facilitate on a regular basis. Next I am hoping to make some contacts in the community to start a group somewhere outside of the school but I need to find a graphic designer to help me with a website first... ;-)
Big Hugs to You,
Tanjariitta
Yes thanks Kathleen, I spent quite a bit of time perusing the site and am impressed. I hope I get to do a session with you when you are here next summer. Thanks for sharing.

As I was looking over the members section, your name popped out at me for obvious reasons. Your work is just beautiful! I experimented years ago with Touch Drawing, put the work aside for a few years to launch my art business and am now just coming back into it in full form. How did you begin introducing yourself as a Touch Drawing facilitator in your community?
