Touch Drawing Personal Use, Facilitating Touch Drawing
What brings you to an interest in Touch Drawing or SoulCards?
I used to use soul cards in many of the courses I taught at Prescott College and also had the blessed opportunity to teach Touch Drawing in a couple of therapeutic arts courses that I taught. Lately, I am teaching ti to teens, women in shelters, artists I've met through my printmaking and the general public. It's always new and alwyas an invitation into the mystery. Because I have been focused on techniques and approaches to Self-Inquiry for the past several years, I am using Touch Drawing now as a tool of self-inquiry. Is that True?
Elementary Schools, Charter Schools, Conferences for Teenage Girls, College Studetns studying Expressive Arts, Meditation Group, Women's Shelter, Artists Group, General Workshop for Anyone!
I attended the Annual Touch Drawing Gathering on Whidbey Island, Washington
2006, 2004, 2003, 2000, 1999, 1997
Do you facilitate SoulCards with others?
No
If so, with whom and how?
I use them - but I wouldn't say I facilitate with them.... I used to have students select one, then they would write a creative story or piece of poetry that went with the card. Other times, they would select a card and let it work within them as they were doing a ritual mask work project and life-myth.
As we approach the next Touch Drawing Gathering and the anniversary of your passing, your presence rises in our hearts once again. We will sing to you from the labyrinth; we will hear your voice and feel your laughter in the trees.
I'm not yet sure if I can upload a slide show here. I have just completed a segment of the 08 Gathering Slide Show devoted to Carol. For now, you can go to my member page by clicking on my icon here. then click on my photos and look for the album 'In Memory of Carol'.
Dearest Carol,
Today and this weekend many are remembering you and honoring your life. Those of us here as well as those gathered will keep you in our hearts each day. You are as near to us as our breath. Breathing in I say hello. Breathing out, I say thank you.
Dearest Carol -
I have been at a loss for what to say since I heard the news a couple of weeks ago. I am shocked and saddened by what happened, but I know that you are at peace now, and that brings me comfort. I know you were with us at the Gathering, and you felt all the love coming to you always, but especially in the Labyrinth. Your beauty and kindness has left a lasting impression on me and so many others.... you will be missed. I am grateful to have had the opportunity to share time with you, especially at such a sacred place as the Gathering......... All my love to you, beautiful Spirit! Thank you for the beauty you brought.... Amanda
Dear Carol,
I sent that silly picture of myself before this happened. I wanted to keep in touch and busy as I was, didn't have time to write much; so I sent the picture and lots of love.
It has always been a comfort to see you arrive at the Gathering, it is like a divine family reunion. A place where our souls can relax and mingle, (and scream and yell and cry and laugh...) My dear, dear friend, I will miss you terribly. Being your friend has been a blessing. Still sending lots of love. Heather feather
Carol spoke at the 2006 Gathering about how magical the gathering is and how we are in another world while we are there. She asked us to be prepared for the 'real' world as we take the ferry across and the fogginess lifts. I rode that voyage with Carol that early Saturday morning and it was a rebirth into the world, experiencing it anew as we had been transformed from the gathering, never to be the same again.
It was an honor and a pleasure to share the Gathering with Carol.
Her calmness and insight created a sacred space for us to explore within..
In this picture, Carol is taking in the last moments of the gift of the gathering with every part of her mind, body and spirit. It's a gift made of gold that nothing can damper - the joy of loving and accepting who we are, just as we are.
This is how I will remember you Carol, taking in all the joy that the universe has to offer with gusto.
I missed you at the 2007 Gathering but I brought my black yoga pants, just like you suggested. You said keep it simple.
