Profile Information

My interest is in
Touch Drawing Personal Use, SoulCards Personal Use, Facilitating Touch Drawing, Deborah's Art
What brings you to an interest in Touch Drawing or SoulCards?
Long use of the soul cards for writing prompts in my work; personal desire to experience the art; professional desire to use with students, especially young women/girls and incarcerated women with whom i am currently working
My experience applies to:
Creativity, Spiritual, Teens, Meditation, Expressive Arts
Have you done Touch Drawing?
How did you find out about the Touch Drawing Community?
From the Rowe weekend just completed the end of January 2011
Have you facilitated Touch Drawing?
In what setting have you facilitated?
So far, in the VT women's prison where i currently hold weekly writing circles and monthly writing/art workshops. In addition, i will likely use it with the girls and women who attend my writing circles outside as an adjunct ('cross training'!) to writing. And, in April girls' vacation writing camp :-)
Do you facilitate SoulCards with others?
If so, with whom and how?
frequently, within my writing circles as visual prompts in connection with various themes; they are a powerful way to elicit deep writing and reflective inspiration. and of course on my own. LOTS of important writing has emerged from these visual prompts
Is there anything else you would like us to know about you?
My new chapbook of poetry, INTO THE GREAT BLUE: Meditations of Summer, is currently for sale from Finishing Line Press. A direct link appears on my website,

Under grant with the Vermont Arts Council and National Endowment for the Arts, we  (Women Writing for (a) Change - Vermont) hold weekly writing circles at the state women's prison. On the fourth week of the month, we hold a three-hour art workshop in the evening, introducing a variety of visual arts to the women. These experiences deepen and extend the writing which then follows on the spot.

Sarah, so sorry we didn't accept your membership sooner - I just discovered a group of waiting requests that had never been delivered to my inbox, as they usually are. Please keep my posted on your work with Touch Drawing  - it was so great to meet you at Rowe!

Blessings, Deborah
