What brings you to an interest in Touch Drawing or SoulCards?
Well, somewhat of a calling - In 1974 I came upon the process in what i could call a 'creative revelation' - while choosing to follow a playful impulse to move my fingers on a paper towel in the printshop - rather than wipe the ink of the printing plate. I felt an enormous rush of energy move through me as my fingertips moved upon the page. As I pulled the paper towel off the ink, I saw the natural lines that had appeared from the pressure of my fingertips on the underside. Amidst childlike joy and play, I also realized that this was a universal creative process that was emerging from 'somewhere' to be available for a new stage of human creative expression and consciousness. Pretty big vision for a graduating art student! I had a sense that I was being called to share this process. This 'calling' has shaped my life, leading to this wonderful online community! I cannot spread this process all alone! YOU have an important part to play!
My experience applies to:
Therapy, Art, Creativity, Education, Spiritual, Intuitive, Childbirth, Expressive Arts, Creative Art Therapy, Organizational, Other
Other areas of interest & experience
I see myself as the 'Touch Drawing Generalist'. My hope is to put the process into the hands of people who bring it into their own special area of focus, in their own ways! I have another personal member page where I focus on my own personal work with Touch Drawing.

The 'Sweat Lodge' Gathering

Yesterday the region had ALL TIME record breaking heat - 103 degrees in Seattle. I don't know what it hit here, but we are cooking. Thank goodness for the deep coolness of the Sanctuary. It was silent day and we spread out all over the land. About 11 people came with me to the old growth forest and beach. When we met in the sanctuary at 4, we sat together in the deep silence. It felt like we should just stay in the stillness so we extended silence until dinner. this group is able to hold the dep… Continue

Wednesday Morning Silent Day

The sharing of inner portraits went through the late afternoon and into the evening. Each experience drew out a deep life story. We are in awe. We moved into silent time in the mid evening. I will take about 12 people to the old growth forest for their silent time today. There is an ancient cedar that serves as an altar - this and many others saved from the loggers by our community standing in protection in 1981.
I love the deep silent day at the Gathering. I can rest into it as I lie in the fie… Continue

Tuesday Lunch

Day one of the Gathering has come to feel like week one. We are inside now! We are sculpting our sessions around the intense heat; drawing morning and evening; afternoons in the sanctuary, which is deeply cool and held. An opening in the sanctuary session brought a hole in my precious blue crystal singing bowl. Many layers of learning here and stepping through the opening in the bowl to embody its music in my own voice.

This morning we moved into the Inner Portrait process. We will witness them… Continue

First Night of the Gathering

A day of carrying and loading and unloading and moving tables and setting spaces...and by 6pm all was in order and our Gathering studio resonated in readiness. We walked through the forest to the silence of the Sanctuary; The to the labyrinth which we circled around, breathing with the trees. One more circle of candles in the Hall and very simple first sharing from each one of us. Then an open fluid simple formless first drawing session. We usually begin drawing on Monday morning, but this gentl… Continue

Deborah on Touch Drawing

The beginning

Since my personal blog has become a place to post my own Touch Drawing, I have decided to have a second 'identity' in the community as 'Deborah on Touch Drawing'. This seems like an important developmental step on a personal level - making space for my own artist self separate from the part of me that represents Touch Drawing to others. Now I need to make actual TIME as well. But this is a step in clarifying the difference, which will help me clarify my use of time as well!

The 13th Annual Touc… Continue
