Hi everyone, I wanted to share that I successfully facilitated my first touch drawing workshop Oct 14. It was the main part of a staff retreat for my colleagues of spiritual care givers at an acute…Continue

How did you find out about the Touch Drawing Community?
My husband and I rented a cabin on the sunshine coast for this August, 2010. He decided to google the owner of the cabin. You can imagine my delight when I found Kathleen Horne's website on expressive arts... and then followed her link to the Touch Drawing Community. The tug on my heart was physical! I have been longing to participate in something like this even though I did not know it existed. It took me some time to decide to follow my heart and register. As Gerald May says " take the risk that the heart's desire is trustworthy"
Have you facilitated Touch Drawing?
Not yet but I plan to
I attended the Annual Touch Drawing Gathering on Whidbey Island, Washington
Share a special experience with Touch Drawing or SoulCards.
I wrote this on the weekend after being at the 2010 Gathering.

"Saturday was a very gentle, sleepy day...... snuggling with my 21 year old in bed! , picking fresh strawberries from the garden.... drinking coffee on the deck, and slowly, oh so slowly speaking words about this incredible contemplative week in the depths. Pulling out one series, or one or two drawings at a time over the day.
Sunday, I gathered my journal, and a lunch and rode my bike to the river valley here in Edmonton..... It was about a 20 km ride round trip. But at the river, on the bank, I rested among the trees, with a warm sun and a blue, blue sky.. and then I wrote in my journal.... thread after thread after thread...... weaving together the different pieces of experience of the Gathering. Finally, after I had had enough sleep, and I had open time, I could begin to connect and ponder more deeply the rich experiences that I had at the Gathering."

Hi Deborah,

So good to hear from you, I was just thinking about you today actually, really feeling how I would like to keep in touch with you and have a few chats. It would be great if we could skype together. I am really getting into skype because it feels like you are having a cup of tea with someone, fulfiling in a very different way. It is not hard at all, all you need is a camera, or you may have one built in into your laptop already.

I am impressed that you managed to do TD every day on your vacation, vow! It would be wonderful for us to encourage each other around faciliating TD in soul care and also to just chat as we did, I so enjoyed your company. I am still in Switzerland with my family and about to go back to NZ in two days time. I have had a good time with family but had no space for TD, so I am looking forward to starting again when I get home. What paper are you using for it, have you found some tissue paper to use where you are?

I will be in touch with more TD news soon. I will be back in NZ on 11th Aug, so I will be in touch.

Much love to you, so pleased to hear from you

Thank you Deborah! The summer has been busy with friends and family coming and going. I am so grateful I got to Touch Draw with Valerie because I haven't gotten to since then! Valerie and I also had a fun afternoon of doing messy acrylic art with Renee. I struggle to defend the time I need for me but I am so determined to facilitate I hope it will override all of that. I hope if I just send out an email that says, "I need someone to Touch Draw with me!" I'll get a response. Take care and I hope you get paint on your fingers!

Hi Deborah, yes I have arrived in Switzerland yesterday. I am feeling a little jet lagged still! It is 2am right now and I am awake... I have so enjoyed to have you as a cabin mate, you have been so wonderfully loving towards me in my difficult moments, I has really touched me. You know, I feel quite different, something has really shifted during this time overseas and my time with Denise has been really healing. She is so relaxed in herself and in the world that it helped me realize that I can let myself be like that too. Denise and I had another session of the inner portraits with each other before I left which was wonderful and very affirming. I now trust my way of doing it more fully and enjoy it. So I have let go of my judgements about it and come to appreciate all that I can get in touch with through it. I am thrilled. I feel I will be able to offer it to the public, on a one to one, as a healing tool much sooner than I thought I would be able too. I will teach it in small groups to start with as it is a slightly different way of working for me. So if you are wanting support to put the work out there, I am very happy to share my experiences with you, as I think it would be wonderful in your line of work Deborah.

I hope you are well and settled back into your life.

I am looking forward to meeting you, too! If you haven't already, you may want to join the TD gathering group, and enjoy a little connection with the others that are coming. The Touch drawing process is an inviting, welcoming, and equalizing process. I like the metaphor of jumping into the deep end; I feel kind of like that each time I enter an extended TD experience (in a good way!) See you Sunday!

Hi Deborah! This is so great! I will be there too and it will be great to meet you, I am, right now, at our property in Halfmoon Bay; we are having a little family reunion/work party, and i am going straight from here to the TD gathering.

Hi everyone, I am very new to the use of this technology.... I have never joined an on-line group before and I haven't figured out how to see who the other members of the 2010 Gathering Group are. I like the idea of meeting others who are attending the Gathering in this way. If anyone has any tips for me about this, I would appreciate them. Deborah
