Hi, Margo!
I hope this response is not too late! I have been in Hawaii for the past 2+ weeks and just got back yesterday. I personally have never offered TD specifically in the way that you are asking about, although I can greatly see the benefit...

Hi Becky,
I am very interested in connecting with Hasbro Childrens Hospital here in RI. Initially, I wanted to inquire about taking some of my students to create a mural there for the patients. Now I am also looking into perhaps volunteering some ...

What brings you to an interest in Touch Drawing or SoulCards?
I was first drawn to Touch Drawing through my use of the Soul Cards in the hospital, which I was introduced to as an intern, and have used for many years now. After having taken a Touch Drawing workshop with Deborah a few years back at an IEATA conference, I knew I needed to add this to my life and my practice. This led me to this year's Gathering, and an amazing experience!
In the hospital, in my private practice, in private homes, and as a guest at Deborah's most recent class at CIIS.
I attended the Annual Touch Drawing Gathering on Whidbey Island, Washington
2007
Share a special experience with Touch Drawing or SoulCards.
I have had so many incredible experiences using the Soul Cards in the hospital setting that I am not sure I can begin to pick one at the moment, and after a week at the Touch Drawing Gathering on Whidbey, I am so full with special moments, I cannot choose just one at this time.
Do you facilitate SoulCards with others?
Yes
If so, with whom and how?
I often use the Soul Cards with patients (in the hospital) bedside or in groups in a number of different ways. I might have someone choose a card to represent the past, one the present, and one the hoped-for future, related to their pain, their illness/injury and recovery, or their life in general. Or I simply might have someone choose a card to represent their feelings or to get a conversation going. I have also used them at meetings with a mixture of staff members from many disciplines as a way to represent feelings about a present issue or hopes for the future of the hospital or initiative in general. I co-authored an article about the use of the Soul Cards in the hospital for Deborah's newsletter in 2005. Here's the link: https://www.whidbey.net/touchdrawing/Newsletter/InTouch3-p2.html
Is there anything else you would like us to know about you?
I am an Expressive Arts Therapist (licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the state of CA, MFC 44553), and in addition to my work at the California Pacific Medical Center, I have a private expressive arts therapy practice, and facilitate touch drawing privately and in groups, both in conjunction with therapy and as a process in and of itself.
Becky, i am wondering if you would like to start a small group on Td and pain management. I could invite people to join it at the end of your article, to continue the discussion and connect there. Aleady, I am referring people to it - a member of the community just wrote to me and told me she had broken a hip while horsback riding and wants to do TD - you article will really inspire her. I also sent a copy to Eileen, because she is really interested. Her son who is about to graduate as a nurse, wants to bring expressive arts into his work in the hospital. We talked about having him come to your hospital for a visit this summer. She will be in touch. Love and gratitude, Deborah
Dear
Becky, I just spoke with Faith Norton, who has been using Touch Drawing at staff retreats at St Joseph medical Center in apple Valley, Ca for a couple of years now. She would love to connect with you. She was interested in how you have incorporated SoulCards into the hospital. I sent her to your article. She will be joining the community any time now, so keep you eye out. i think she will write to you.
Hey Becky Blue! So glad you are in the community and that I got to meet you at the gathering. Keep glowing and spreading your light. Peace and Rainbows, Shanti
Hey Blue Eyes! Nice to see your smiling face. How wonderful to get into the hospital. Would you like to share how you were able to have the sessions in the hospital. Several of us are wanting to provide sessions in the hospice setting.
HOw wonderful. Becky! I am SO gl;ad you will be bringing TD to the Hospital. You might want to keep Eileen posted, too. We need to set up a TD in the thr hospital special interest group, too....
It was such a joy to have you at the Gathering! Love, Deborah
Welcome, Becky! If you don't mind putting your real name in your profile page, it would help people from the Gathering realize it's you. Would you be interested in setting up a special interest group on using SoulCards in the hospital? It might encourage others to do so. All you have to do is gr to the GROUPS tab and start a group! Then write just a bit. You could take what you wrote on Sc in the hopsital from your profile and put it there.
