Touch Drawing at Sogenji Monastery

I finally visited Sogenji Monastery in Okayama Japan. Shodo Harada Roshi and Chisan have been developing their US monastery here on Whidbey Island for many years. We wanted to put a workshop together but the drawing boards and paper were in Tokyo. Chisan took me out and we found things we could use at the local dollar store! My nephew Steve Theberge spending a year in retreat there. He took the photos. It really felt like an honor to share Touch Drawing with people who are in such deep retreat. And a bit of fun for them! this was the day before the earthquake and tsunami.
