Touch Drawing Community

I am considering starting a 6-month series of TD workshops open to the community in my town. I have a couple of venues selected, and have been sending feelers out to gauge interest.

My husband is a psychotherapist and wants to recommend the series for some of his clients. I have a few people in my spiritual community who are wanting to work on personal spiritual issues from a creative perspective.

I have experience teaching and facilitating other types of events and circles, but this would be my first time sharing TD with others.

Any thoughts you would share with a first-timer?

What a great idea. I have been considering something similar for the teachers at one of my schools where I am a school counselor, after school. I am wrestling with the school day schedule to find enough time to offer TD properly and figure the best way is to just test the waters and see if anybody is interested.

Since you are not working in the constraint of "after work" at a school, you could craft your timing however you wanted. I found that a very close reading of the TD Facilitator's manual and following the guidelines and suggestions is a very helpful support for me.

Kate, I am glad to hear the the Facilitator Workbook has actually served you! I encourage you to do something after school. if it is a series, you wilol be able to start right away, without the extra time of demonstrating, etc that is needed with a one-time workshop. And you could use separate sessions for drawing and for processing/writing about drawings. Just some toughts. Are you thinking is t might be an hour, or an hour and a half? The series aspect will really help; the deepening can happen over time.

Angela, Have you purchased the Touch Drawing Facilitator Workbook? I wrote everything I could think of to support you there. You can find it in 3-ring binder from or digital download on the website, http://www.touchdrawing.com, on the PRODUCTS page. Also, go to the TOUCH DRAWING tab and you will see Frequently Asked Questions. i address a number of relevant issues there. in the next e-newsletter, which will come out next week sometime, I have a new FAQ on how to economize on materials for a Touch Drawing Wrokshop. We will add this to the FAQ page soon, too. I hope this is helpful. And of course, the conversation right in this Workshop Facilitation group is where we can all share ideas. Blessings, Deborah

I have it as a PDF on my computer, and have read through most of it.

Angela - For first timer, and I say this in the Facilitator book, try with a small group fo friends in a setting where you are not 'on-the-line porefessionally, to work the kinks out....and ask for constructive feedback.. Blessings! I'm on my way out to draw in the full moon energy. Julie is right now, too.

This is a good idea -- I have a couple of people in my "congregation" who are very close to me and very interested in kick-starting their creativity. I have mentioned Touch Drawing to them, and they are intrigued.

A series, just the thing to make this idea work and thank you. I think teachers could stay an hour and 15 minutes or so, and there could be 5 weekly sessions before spring break. They could even do some writing about their drawings between sessions. I will be talking with the Art teacher later this week to see about access to her space with big nice tables and a sink and maybe she will want to come to the sessions too.

Do you know just this minute I am online with Travelocity making plane reservations for this summer's Gathering.

I run a weekly Touch Drawing session every Sunday evening and the group is growing. It started with two participants on the first week, the second week four, so maybe six this week. One of the participants is blind and her Drawing sessions have led her to a space where she is already creating her own cards and is calling them "Touch Love". As she cannot see with her eyes, she sees so much more with her soul. I am so lucky to have met Liz, as she teaches us all the true meaning of "congruence", heart and mind working together. Her drawings are so powerful, and it is lovley to share the beauty that is her soul.

When you set the energy, guidance comes. When the Teacher is ready, the student appears and vise versa....

I had been out of touch with my spiritual teachings for three years and Touch Drawing has led me gently home again. I am now organising workshops to teach Archetypes and Archangels in Paradise and am incorporating the Touch Drawing as a tool to help participants connect with their own Divinity, and as a form of meditation.
