Touch Drawing Community

While online this time, I noticed that Julie Lien had requested to be my friend, so I clicked to accept. Then there was another name and picture Rina Rishilah Rani from Malaysia. I clicked on her picture first to see more about her before accepting and it was something strange. I blocked her from my list but am wondering if anyone else has encountered this problem?

I have had this same thing happen to me from two other people. They are members of other sites on NING and are attempting to network themselves and their businesses. I denied their requests.

Thanks, Jeanne - That's what I did too. I am new to all this web stuff, so it is helpful to know what to look for.
Peace, Tinky

Tinky and Jeanne and all,

The creators of this site are aware of this and are working on a better privacy setting coice. Soon you will be able to block all requests for 'friending' from people who are NOT members of the site. And we keep a constant eye on the site to be sure all who register to be members are for real, and interested in TD and SC. They have to fill out a profile when they join, and I read the profiles. If someone seemed questionable, I would block them from membership on the site. So with a bit more time, this pproblem of un-connected members will be gone and we can proceed with only valid Td group members.Unitl then you can refuse friednship and blcok them from contacting you again. This not happening much, by the way. ven though i am a member of several different comnmunities now, i have only received a few 'marketing' type friend requests. I'm still trying to get a sense of what the friend thing is useful for. I THINK PEOPLE who don't know you request friending so they can GET LINKED TO OTHER PEOPLE SO PEOPLE will find their page within a site.

Yes, it's a numbers game, really........ Typically, on networking sites, those with the most friends, win............... But, there isn't any substance to most of those interactions, obviously........ I'm actually impressed with your denial of these requests! I've been on the networking sites for several years, and it's quite common to have friends you don't know....... You like something about someone, and ask to be their friend......... and it allows you to remember them, and be in contact with them again.... and I have had GREAT friendships come from some of these! I even had someone visit me from Scotland, who I wouldn't have met if we couldn't have just connected on a networking site.... But yes - most of it is popularity games and/or marketing..................

Tinky and anyone else, I the opast, anyone could send a friend request to you if they were on the nong network anywhere. people were using friend requests just to get more links to their pages. The network creators have now changed this feature. You cannot send a friend request unless you are a member of the network whose member you are trying to friend. this change has instantly cut out the irreleveant friend requests there are also lmits on how many friend requests someone can send out even within a network. The creators are really working at making refinements to keep these communities clean for the useres.

Sincethe TD community member profile form has a number of required questions to answer, we are not getting people joining who are not sincere about their interest. If we ever did, we would ban them immediately because I am always checking out the new members. I also approve all photos and videos, so no junk can be put online. Sro we should be pretty safe and clear now!
